A sturdy and robust net, built to withstand sampling in aquatic systems, scraping stream substrates, and sweeping through thick vegetation. This net is inspired after BioQuip’s Heavy Duty Aquatic Nets (7412D & 7412DN) and is compatible with the respective BioQuip replacement net bags (7212DD & 7212DN). Aquatic Insect Nets, or Dip Nets, are a crucial tool when sampling benthic macroinvertebrates which is why we designed this net with durability and stability. We are thrilled to offer this premium piece of equipment.

• Continuous Metal Net Ring: Features a seamless, continuous metal ring for superior strength, with a thick wire, built to withstand the rough sub straight at the bottom of streams and rivers that can include roots, rocks, and debris.
• 5 foot design: In total, the net measures just over 5 feet, which provides ideal reach in deeper streams, without having to bend over.
• Unique D-shaped Ring: The D-shaped ring provides a wide opening to efficiently collect invertebrates, while also providing a flat bottom, perfect for inserting into buckets, pans, or containers to remove debris and observe the invertebrates collected. Since transfer is made so easy with the shape of this ring, the likelihood of losing or dropping specimens decreases significantly.

Parts Included:

• Net Bag – 8 inch deep and made with heavy duty canvas, lined with nylon piping. 500-micron white mesh at the bottom with a 4 inch skirt, to protect from snags. Attaches to ring with hog rings. Separate/replacement bags are available for purchase.
• Handle – smooth wood, length = 4.5 feet and diameter = 7/8 inch
• Ring – Continuous steel ring and steel adaptor attached to wood handle. D-shaped thick wire ring (thickness = 1.4 inch), with a 12 inch straight edge.
• Hog Rings – Stainless Steel Pack of 15 (can be purchased separately)

Assembly:

1. Remove the net bag and hog rings from their packaging.
2. With pliers or specialized hog ring pliers, begin to attach hog rings one-by-one onto the ring, while also snagging onto the outer rim of the net bag. While attaching the hog rings, make sure to be capturing the nylon piping along the edge of the net bag. (Image below).
   
3. Continue adding hog rings around the net ring, until the entire bag is securely attached. Space rings about 2-3 inches apart to ensure that the net bag is attached without too many gaps. See the image below for an example of hog ring placement.
   

Shipping:

This net is shipped with ring and handle pre-assembled. Hog rings and bag are packed separately and require assembly. We are working to offer a “build-at-home” option in the future! More information to come!
