General Product Information – Aquatic Net Bag (Heavy Duty) and Hog Rings

The Ecology Supplies Aquatic Net bags are designed for fresh water collecting of benthic macroinvertebrates and great for scraping stream bottoms.

Parts Included:

• Net Bag – 8 inch deep and made with heavy duty canvas, lined with nylon piping. 500-micron white mesh at the bottom with a 4 inch skirt, to protect from snags. Attaches to ring with hog rings. (can be purchased separately)
• Hog Rings – Stainless Steel Pack of 15 (can be purchased separately)

Assembly:

1. Remove the net bag and hog rings from their packaging.
2. With pliers or specialized hog ring pliers, begin to attach hog rings one-by-one onto the ring, while also snagging onto the outer rim of the net bag. While attaching the hog rings, make sure to be capturing the nylon piping along the edge of the net bag. (Image below).
   
3. Continue adding hog rings around the net ring, until the entire bag is securely attached. Space rings about 2-3 inches apart to ensure that the net bag is attached without too many gaps. See the image below for an example of hog ring placement.
